The Tail End of 2020 Will See a Huge Demand in Staycations in the UK

2020 has introduced what could only be described as a ‘temporary lifestyle’, meaning that any holiday plans have been put on an immediate hold. So what does this mean for the travel industry for the tail end of the year?

Whilst we will also be concerned about social distancing rules, I’m sure many of us will wonder if it is safe to travel? But as the government is starting to ease lockdown over the coming weeks, we are hopeful that when people start thinking about their holiday plans, they will consider a ‘staycation in the UK’. Why?

Social Distancing Measures

As social distance measures mean we have to remain 2 metres apart, it’s hard to imagine that you will board a flight this year, let alone have dinner in a hotel restaurant alongside 200 other guests. On the flip side of this, it’s difficult to accept that we might not have a holiday at all this year and for many of us, this is a huge disappointment.

However, there is always an opportunity to try something new, and as we adopt fresh ways of living, why don’t you go on your first RV trip? This will allow you to have:

  • Self-contained living space
  • Self-isolation, away from other people
  • Avoid busy locations
  • Choose remote locations in the UK
  • Feel comfortable in your very own leisure vehicle

Although this may sound like a big step, this year has already forced us to step outside of our comfort zones, so why not take that extra step and look at buying that motorhome, you’ve always wanted? Not only is it a perfect option for social distancing, but it also gives you the freedom for adventure and a chance to visit beautiful locations, which are right on your doorstep.

Peace of Mind

One of the main reasons we choose to go on a road trip is the freedom to drive to any destination and the ability to tailor your adventure your way. Like any great road trip, there is also some reassurance that you are never too far away from home, and we think this will be a contributing factor in deciding where to travel to this year.

You can have peace of mind in knowing that you can travel with members of your household, but you still don’t have to go too far. So if the worse happens and we see lockdown restrictions tighten again (hopefully not!), you won’t have any concerns about getting a flight back home or spending time in lockdown in a different country.

Supporting small businesses

This is an excellent opportunity for people in the UK to choose a ‘staycation’ holiday to support the local economy and local businesses. The hard truth is that many companies have struggled through this pandemic period, and they want to keep their doors open. The only way they are going to be able to do this is with the help of people who travel closer to home.

When we are allowed and when you are ready to start thinking about your next holiday, be it for the end of this year, or the beginning of next, we encourage you to consider keeping your money in the UK economy and where possible, support a local business.

So, we’ve given you three reasons why we think staycations in the UK will be a massive holiday trend this year. All you need to do now is buy your leisure vehicle, whether that be a motorhome, caravan or campervan, we can help compare the best finance options for you. We have competitive rates from 5.9% APR (8.9% APR Representative) and with a fast application process, we’re here to you with every step of the way!
